What we collect

Right now, four things:

• Your email address, if you sign up for our newsletter.
• Visit counts: how often each page is viewed, how quickly pages load, and which tools people go on to visit from our pages. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts the first two for us, and we count the third ourselves. Neither uses cookies or identifies you.
• What people type into our search boxes: only the words, without anything that identifies you. Anything that looks like an email address or phone number is never saved, and searches are deleted after 90 days.
• What you send with our forms, when you suggest a tool or report an error, including your email if you choose to give it. We delete it after 90 days, and your email is never shown publicly.

We don't ask for your name, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we collect it

To send you the Tool Teller newsletter: a launch announcement, then an email about every two weeks. We don't sell or rent your email address, and we don't use it for anything else.

Visit counts show us which pages people visit most and which load slowly, so we know what to improve.

Searches show us what people look for, including tools and tasks we don't cover yet.

What you send with our forms helps us add tools and fix mistakes. If you give your email, we use it only to reply to you.

Who handles it for us

• Kit stores the newsletter list and sends the emails. See Kit's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare hosts this website, counts visits for us, and delivers email sent to our contact address. Like any web host, it handles technical details such as your IP address to load pages and protect the site. Its spam check on our forms, Turnstile, looks at technical details like these only to tell people from bots, not to identify or track you.
• GitHub holds our private to-do list. What you send with our forms becomes a task there for us to work through, without your email.

Your choices

• Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click and you're off the list.
• To see or delete the information we hold about you, email contact@toolteller.com.

Changes

We'll expand this page before the full site launches, and update the date at the top whenever it changes.
